I am at Punta Reina in Spain. The views have been amazing and the walks have been challenging. To start I went to lourdes, France to get in the spirit and I became undocumented as all my passport, credit cards etc were lost.. I walk with a police document to identify my self. ´
the frist 2 days were the hardest so far, evavations were big… I still have a few my elvevations to go till I get to the mesa. I am blessed as i have not hurt myself, I just take a step at a time. We have created a pilgram culture and I have found a friend to wlak with Finely, she is an artist and amazingly intelegent so the conversations a great.
I am a bit tired so will go to sleep early, 10 people in the room tonight. I miss you all and am anxious to continue the walk, I have taken tons of pictures, but limited time on internet.
Miss you all and love you, tons of stories to tell. I do not have my original phone for text messageas or calls as that was taken as well.

Many have asked about my trip and there are a few books of reading that I recommend if you are interested… any of these will take you thru the walk with me as I do the 500 miles in 30 days! I have read them all and all are different for all reading preferences see below: The Camino – by Shirley McClaine – I read this Jan 2003 by recommendation of a dear friend and mentor Sherry Joyce (Hey Sherry, Rick wants to talk to you about this! He blames you for this craziness!)- I am not a big follower of hers but truly enjoyed the book – it touches bases of letting go of fears …
The Pilgrim – by Paulo Coelho - I first came aware just as I was leaving this Feb 2007 to Mexico where I would tell my parents that this trip was in their honor. At Yoga someone I never seen overheard a conversation about ny adventure and said I should read this. God is truly amazing… I shook it off ands said ok…. Then when I got to my parents home a friend of my father had given him the book when he found out that I was walking “The Camino” … Paulo is the same author of The Alchemist which I have never read (will take it on my ipod!) – Truly a humbling book….
Walk in a Relaxed Manner – by Joyce Rupp- A great spiritual friend called up one day do you have this book? I said no, well you do now. Just in time a few weeks ago… very factual and at the same time spiritual as to how to embrace the journey… not only “the Camino” but life….

You are about to embark on an incredible journey – one that will enable your soul to meet with our Lord each day that you walk.
You will have days of uncertainty and days of physical pains, but just remember that out Lord endured those same obstacles but keep His eye on His mission and what He needed to accomplish for His Father. You love your earthly father and mother and have dedicated this walk to them, so now, you know what you need to accomplish and you must keep eyes on the mission.
Most importantly, remember that you can’t accomplish your goals by your own strength. You need your faith to sustain you in the weeks ahead.
Isaiah 40:31
Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary.
Because you will need to turn to Him with utter and blind faith and resolve in your heart and mind to walk only with Him and toward Him – you will change. You can’t fathom the changes that will take place within your self while you are gone, and you will still be under construction for the Lord when you return home.
While you are gone, we will pray for you, and in turn, pray for us while you walk, that we may also be changed.

To my dear family (consisting of family and those we have been blessed that have embraced me as family!)
Well the dates have approached us for this amazing journey that I have been granted. Words can not express the emotions that stir up within me…. Know that I will carry you in my heart and prayers and ask that you keep the prayers going for me thru June 2nd when I return. I ask that you pray to God to show me to be in the present and make me aware of His beauty and His purpose for me in my next 40 years to come and to share those experiences to help others… As Judy (an angel at CVIM) told me the journey starts when you come back and apply your learning’s to your life… “We will be there to help you out” …. I am counting on you guys!
There has been much encouragement by you all, shared and treasured moments, words and thoughts I will carry together with special symbols of faith I have been given to protect me and keep me company along the way (I will cherish them all Joan or Arc, St Isabel, Fatima, Rosary made of thread, sealed notes that I will carry and read randomly, etc…! Thank you!
I am in awe as I think of how blessed I am by all the Angels that God has and continues send my way… you all know who you are
A great blessing Rick will walk with me from April 23 (first day) thru April 29th. Yupppiee! Truly a blessing as I settle into this new foundation of walking 15 – 20 miles a day in a land unknown to me….

My name is Elizabeth Arroyave-Pitts, and in May 2007, I will be walking 500 miles in the Camino de Santiago in honor of my parents. This pilgrimage is a walk in faith that will take me from France to Spain in 30 days. Like my physician father and mother, who care for those in need, I ask that you support me in my journey by contributing to my workplace, Community Volunteers In Medicine (CVIM), a nonprofit organization that provides primary medical and dental care to the working poor. Eighty-four cents ($.84) of every dollar you donate to CVIM goes directly to patient care. CVIM receives no government funding or insurance reimbursement, and exists entirely through volunteer support and philanthropic contributions. Your generous donation will provide healthcare, hope and healing to thousands of hard-working individuals who need appropriate medical and dental assistance for themselves and their families. Thank you very much for your consideration and support.
